The Secret to a Perfect Home

Design tips to help you transform your dream room!

Designing a room can be stressful but Brown & Beam is here to help!

First, you want to start with the general color scheme and style. Pick which style you prefer like traditional, industrial, modern, etc., so that you have an idea of the type of furnishings you will decorate with. If you are working with a smaller space, try lighter color tones and large mirrors to warm it up a bit. While thinking about color, don't be afraid to let gold and silver hangout together. These two compliment another by their classy color which gives a vibe of chicness. If you use neutrals try to amplify them with texture. Adding a variety of materials can make the space more interesting. This range can include fine-gauge and open-weave linen, to raw silk and taffeta, and even velvet to distressed velvet. These will create contrasts of matte sheen that will absorb light, and lustrous sheen that reflect it.  If you love dark colors, taking the plunge on a strong hue is daunting. Try to accent your walls with big dark colored frames or mirrors. This adds the dark ambiance that you were striving for without making your room seem smaller.

Another trick is to fake height and space with low furniture. Naturally, to make a room look larger, tinier pieces do the trick. Make sure when you are purchasing items such as a couch, chairs, or coffee table to make it an investment. Well-made furniture will last you longer even when you are dealing with pets and kids. Another way to amplify your space is to use rugs. Rugs are perfect way to skew a room into being the perfect size and comfort level. Such as, round rugs that give an infinity type of look that can accentuate the no boundaries visual element.

Lighting is another key to make a room look luminous. A variety of lighting will create a brighter look that is very inviting. Table lamps, ceiling lights, and floor lamps help to add that desired light while still blending in with the style of your home.

We hope these simple tips help you create your dream space!
