Due to their broad rim and timber base, parat-style kneading bowls were widely employed in North Indian households for mixing traditional breads. Today, a storied catchall for smaller objects, such as keys in the doorway or ornamental fruit in the kitchen, is constructed in the style of the original out of a combination of recycled woods. Each bowl differs from the others due to its natural origins in the form of fractures, wear, and color variation.
